The Flat racing action is headlined by the Spring Trophy Stakes over seven furlongs. With the best of both racing worlds on show, there is something for everyone.
Haydock Park is owned and operated by The Jockey Club. It is the scene of many popular and well-attended events in the Northern racing calendar. It is conveniently situated, being exactly half-way between Manchester and Liverpool. In spite of its closeness to heavy industry, the course itself is set in woodland. It still has the atmosphere of a park, harking back to of the days when it was owned by the Leighs, a great Lancashire family, who took the name of Newton when they elevated to peerage.
