What Does Lockdown 2 Mean For Gatwick Airport?
If you are travelling into England during the November lockdown, you should check whether you need to self-isolate for 14 days. You are required to abide by the airport’s rules even if you do not need to isolate.
There are four key things Gatwick Airport is asking of you as you travel through the airport. These rules are displayed throughout the terminals:
- Wear a face covering
- Maintain two metres social distancing.
- Wash your hands with soap and water regularly.
- Use hand sanitiser where provided.
All staff working at the airport will wear a face-covering in passenger areas of the terminal. All passengers are required by law to wear a face-covering too.
Protective screens have been put in place at check-in, boarding areas and gates. This is to protect staff and travellers alike. There are additional cleaning measures in place including dedicated staff to clean commonly touched surfaces such as touchscreens or handrails. Special ‘PPE bins’ have been installed in the terminals for the disposal of used face coverings and gloves.
There will be regular announcements and plenty of signage to remind you to stick to social distancing rules and to wash or sanitiser your hands regularly throughout your journey. A large number of hand sanitiser stations have been installed in the terminals and seating arrangements have been changed so social distancing measures can be observed. Families and groups travelling together are allowed to sit together. One-way flows are in place in some areas.
